Getting Started
Julie will personally visit your home, and bring a wide variety of sample boards for you to see and touch. Putting these directly on your counter will give a much better idea of how different colors and textures and finishes will look in your home. This is a critical step as no amount of staring at pictures can replace putting something tangible in your home, with your lighting, to get a realistic sense of what a particular design will feel like.
Next, you decide what general look and feel would be most satisfying for you. This will include details such as backsplash options, matching new or existing cabinets, tile, or flooring. We'll work together to get a complete picture of your new integrated space.
Then Julie will create a custom sample board that translates those decisions into reality, and review that with you in your space. Again, nothing beats reality when it comes to coloration, texture, and finish.
Installation - The fun begins!
We start by preparing the surface, and applying the base coat. This is the structural part of the installation that insures we have a 'rock solid' platform to apply the next steps upon. This usually takes one day.
The following day we apply the actual countertop surface material. This is the surface upon which your design will be applied. If a texture was included in the design, it will be included in this step. This usually takes one day.
At last, the Artisan work begins! Your colors and design are now applied. We will ask you to be present for the final steps of this process, so you are actually involved in the process. We are not finished with this step until you are jump up and down happy! Usually this process takes one day.
Finally, we apply the surface sealing finish. This step is critical, and this is where you really see the design and colorations really pop out! This usually takes one day to apply, and the finish will need 2-3 days to completely cure.
Picture Day! - Julie will come back for a final inspection, and take some pictures of your beautiful new one-of-a-kind custom countertop.
So in less than week, with no demolition, and minimal inconvenience, your new custom countertop is complete and ready for normal use. Let's get started!
